Behind every successful outreach is a dedicated volunteer willing to serve. Whether you have professional expertise, creative skills, medical experience, or simply a passion for helping others, there is a place for you at Achebe Hope Foundation.
Volunteering here is practical work rather than a title. An outreach needs people who will set up before the first family arrives, keep a register, carry supplies, photograph what happens and stay until the last person has been seen. Between outreaches there is just as much to do: writing up what took place, editing footage, preparing materials for a school visit, sitting with a student who has fallen behind, and answering the messages that come in afterwards.
Together, we can restore hope where it is needed most.
Where volunteers serve
Clinical roles are for people qualified to hold them — doctors, nurses, pharmacists, laboratory scientists and community health workers. The rest are open to anyone prepared to learn on the job. If what you do is not on the list, tell us anyway. Accountants, drivers, teachers, translators and people who are simply good at organising other people are all useful, and we would rather hear from you than assume.
What we ask
All volunteers agree to our Volunteer Policy and, where a role involves contact with children, our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policies. Both are published in full on this website.
Please read them rather than tick a box. They set out what is expected of you, what you can expect from us, who to tell if something concerns you, and what happens once you have told them. A volunteer who knows the reporting route is worth a great deal more to a child than one who does not.
We also ask for an honest account of your availability. A few hours a month, given reliably, is more useful than a large promise that cannot be kept, because outreaches are planned around the people who said they would be there.
What happens after you get in touch
Tell us what you would like to do, where you are based and roughly how much time you have. We will come back to you with the roles that fit and the outreaches and programmes coming up. Where a role involves children or personal information, there is a conversation about safeguarding before you begin.
Volunteers work from both offices — Dokart Corporate House, Old Onitsha–Awka Road, Ogidi, Anambra State, and No. 8B Thaba Tseka Street, Wuse 2, Abuja — and in the communities our programmes reach. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (WAT).
If giving time is difficult at the moment, there are other routes into the work. You can support it financially, raise funds where you already have a network, or join our community and start there.
