Education sits at the centre of the Foundation’s work, and cost is the most common reason a child leaves school or a young person turns down a place they have earned.
Scholarship support exists to take that reason away.
What scholarship support covers
- School fees and enrolment costs
- Books, uniforms and learning materials
- Examination fees
- Places on Achebe Africa Digital Academy courses
- Mentorship and career guidance alongside the funding
Money on its own is rarely enough. A scholarship set alongside mentorship, and alongside the wider support the Foundation offers a family, is far likelier to end in a completed education than a payment made and forgotten about.
Who scholarships are for
Support is directed to children and young people whose education is at risk for reasons of cost or circumstance, with particular attention to those already known to us through our single parents, orphanage support and women and girls programmes.
Applying
Applications are not open yet. Eligibility criteria, application windows and deadlines have not been set, and this page will be updated when the process is genuinely open rather than announced. Advertising a scheme before it can be delivered raises hopes the Foundation is not yet able to meet.
Schools, community leaders and families who want to be told when applications open are welcome to contact the Foundation and ask to be notified. Digital Academy places are handled separately, through AADA Scholarships.
Funding a scholarship
Scholarships are paid for by donors and partners. If you would like to fund one, or a whole cohort, see Support Education.
