Fundraising works because of who you are, not because of who we are. A request from a friend, a colleague or a member of your congregation carries a weight that no campaign from a foundation can match. That is the whole value of it, and it is why we would rather support you properly than send you a template.
Ways people fundraise for us
The simplest ones tend to work best. A birthday campaign that asks for gifts to be redirected takes an afternoon to set up and needs nothing from anybody else. A walk or a community event takes more planning, and is worth doing when you have people around you who will turn up.
Before you start
Please get in touch before fundraising in the Foundation’s name. We will confirm the details, provide materials, and make sure funds reach us properly — which protects both you and the people we serve.
The reason is straightforward. Once your campaign uses our name, donors are trusting us as much as they are trusting you. We need to know a campaign exists, agree how funds will reach the Foundation, and be able to confirm it is genuine if someone asks. Charities are impersonated, and the ones who lose out are the people the money was meant for.
What we provide
- Confirmation that your campaign is authorised, in writing
- Logos, images and copy you can use
- The correct account details, so funds arrive directly
- Guidance on what to promise donors and what not to
- Acknowledgement of what your campaign raised
We will also tell you what your fundraising went towards. Funds raised for a named programme are treated as restricted donations under our Donation Policy, which sets out how restricted and unrestricted giving is handled, and are accounted for under our Financial Accountability Policy.
A note on events involving children
School fundraisers and community events often involve children, and our Child Protection Policy and Safeguarding Policy apply to any activity carried out in the Foundation’s name. That covers supervision, photography and consent. We will go through what is needed with you before the event, not afterwards.
